1. Plant directly into Orla. Remove your plant from its nursery pot and plant into Orla’s inner glass pot.
2. Drainage slots. Drainage slots allow water to pass through the inner pot when watering or dunking.
3. Transparency. The transparent glass allows for easy inspection of the root system. For Orchids and Anthuriums this is a great indicator of the plants health.
4. Double glazed planter. the double layered glass chamber encourages a humid environment around the roots whilst a raised gap at the lip between inner and outer jar allows air to circulate between the two.

How do I water my plant in Orla?
Simple really, you can pour water directly into the potting medium or use the 'dunk' method.
For the 'dunk,' fill the outer glass jar with water, place the inner planter inside the outer vase , let it absorb, then remove and drain excess water. Always monitor your plant's response to its environment and its hydroponic needs.
The great thing about Orla is the inner vase has slots underneath that allow the water to flush straight through into the outer vase, so unlike most planters it won’t hold water around the roots. This is great for epiphytes like orchids, anthuriums, lots of fern varieties and so many more. These plants all enjoy water but don’t like to be sat in moist soil, they grow best in high humidity with a good air flow around the roots. Rather than using standard soil, Orla is great for less traditional mediums like bark, moss, clay pebbles (LECA) or even a mixture, why not get creative!
Will Orla work for plants other than orchids?
Absolutely! Orla is suitable for a wide range of plants, including Orchids, Anthuriums, Philodendrons, Hoyas, Pileas, Monsteras, ferns and so many more. Remember, it’s all about the potting medium! As mentioned above, Orla is brilliant at free-draining, meaning you’re relying on the potting medium for moisture retention. Some plants may need watering a little more frequently, but in turn they will grow stronger, healthier roots, meaning much fuller foliage. Orla makes it easy to see when to water though, as you can see directly into your chosen potting compound.
Additionally Orla can be used for hydroponic growing, providing an ideal environment for plants that thrive in water-based systems. So really the possibilities are almost endless, not just orchids!
